A self-taught filmmaker from the city of Guanajuato (Mexico), Amat started working in cinema at the age of 15. Having made two short films, he wrote and directed his first feature, Sangre, shot in his home town and premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Festival de Cannes in 2005, where he received the FIPRESCI International Critics’ Prize. The pre-selection of works for this 12th Meeting saw the participation of 138 short films from 63 schools in 26 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, Uruguay and the USA. The International Film Students Meeting, organised by San Sebastian Festival and Tabakalera-International Contemporary Culture Centre of San Sebastian, proposes an exchange of audiovisual experiences and knowledge at one of the most important movie events in the world.
